The story begins...
Act 1
Start
On a cold winter's day, Gordon Freeman is driven out to the docks of City 17's harbor area on an urgent assignment. As dock workers, they are not always informed beforehand what their job will be, but today's assignment seems special. Swarms of military units are patroling the area, even armored vehicles are stationed on the main entrances to the harbor. Gordon Freeman are checked for weapons or other unwanted equioment before they can pass through the military barrier. Once inside the quarantained area, some of Gordon Freeman can see men wearing white hazard suits that transport small boxes and load them into a large military truck.
Catalyst
Something happens, the neighbours of Gordon Freeman get arrested by the Combine Soldiers of Dr Breen.
Help
Gordon Freeman would have died if it was not for the conscripts.
React
Even with just little advice from the conscripts, Gordon Freeman sets out to fight the Combine Soldiers.
Act 2
Test
Gordon Freeman has to pass a test, and he makes new friends along the way.
Object
Gordon Freeman finds an important Crowbar in a very dangerous prison.
Danger
Inside, Gordon Freeman almost dies. He gets attacked by dozens of Combine Soldiers.
Reward
Gordon Freeman succeeds and can take possession of their Crowbar, however it holds AIDS.
Act 3
Chase
With their Crowbar the Gordon Freeman wants to return to City 17.
Shortly before he reach their destination, Gordon Freeman is intercepted by Combine Soldiers.
Gordon Freeman can steal some Tetra GTS Is and flee, however they are pursued the rest of the way till he reach City 17.
Climax
The Combine Soldiers and the Gordon Freeman clash in one last climactic fight. A twist reveals the real face of the enemy.
Return
The Gordon Freeman returns to his normal way of living, but with an apprehension that in City 17, even darker times are about to come.
