Subject: C17 Streets WiP Tue Aug 03, 2010 1:16 pm
I'm not sure what to call this map because it's old, so C17 streets is good enough lol
Normally if this was going to be a dry map, i would of commented out the specular lines of the vmt's for the stone road & the concrete sidewalk, but i'm planning on putting rain in this map so it will work nicely
Also the BSP it already 60mb and all i've done is compiled it to see what it was originally meant to look like, i change some things to displacements and added cubemaps, fixed ALOT of textures that have changed names or that were misaligned like doors and such and changed the size of the generated cuebmap textures to 128x128 instead of default 64x64 (i also only used about 15 of them)
Remember this is just first compile after cleaning alot of shit up so this is pretty much how Valve designed it but with my custom skybox texture and model wheels on the brush APC..

Yeah me and jenkins were talking about this map, basicaly gonna' try to turn it into city17_02 as its not in the mappack. Dabling with the idea of it being an office area dew to the old sign in city17_01.
can't wait to see it rain ^^

As you can see the rain particles are becoming a bit of a cunt to add...
I don't get this, i've tried 50 different things and they wont go down in scale.. i change it and in the preview window of the particle editor its all nice and small but its HUGE splashes ingame...

Perhaps with the rain particles.. for now, I suggest focusing on making the rain itself thicker (ie. more rain). The particles aren't going anywhere.

Problem with that is vertices (i.e number of rain drops) is limited to 30,000 being rendered at once (that includes things you cant see thru walls but are still being rendered because of visleaves)
Right now i have the density set to 100% for those rain brushes and yeah you can put more brushes inside the brushes but im scared to break the map that way :/
I was also going to try and make some actual rain droplets as particles instead of using func_precipitation but im still noob to Particle editing in Source lol
