| This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Here, we post images of textures not included in the leak or retail, yet still demanded in WC maps. We create them based on the context of other similar textures, and simulate how they probably look like had they been released to the public. | I started work on this a while ago...
What i did was open practically every texture in Photoshop from the leak, then i cropped/extracted all the repeating features like trims, windows, drains etc. from those type of wall textures, i then saved all the features in their own folders, but i haven't got around to making new ones from those "greebles" as they are referred to in the modeling community...
I'm not sure if i should release a pack of all the greebles or not.. i mean it took me about 3 or 4 days straight to crop and extract them all from about 1500 textures or more.
I was planning on setting up some sort of batch to make it easier, using ImageMagick to transmogrify the greebles onto the textures, but the problem is the greebles that i extracted out aren't the same size as the "base" wall textures... so yeah it would have to be done manually, one by one which would take weeks and weeks to do plus getting the new textures' greebles to line up with the features of the already pre made ones from Valve would be a huge task... | |
