Anyone know where I could get my hands on the leaked Alien Commando and Human Commando models, ported to some version of the retail Source engine? ScarT isn't being very helpful in that department, and searching the internet for the models, ported or otherwise, is proving to be a waste of time.

Well, in that thread someone gave me a decompiler but I'm not exactly sure if it works or not.

I have the models from that Xmas build that GabeN made a few years back; I can send them to you... I have a "scratch" mod for the Alien Swarm engine that turns it back into a FPS and I was going to see if I could do something code-wise to make something resembling the Xmas-build (only not ancient).

Ah, well, in what way does the decompiler work?
I once had one, said to be able to decompile ancient models from the leak. Sadly it broke the models completely. Then there is another decompiler that can do standard leak models.

I have most experience with the second, and it comes in the form of a model viewer.

The one that was posted is a src folder, a program called "mdl35decompil", a proxy text file, and a Run.bat file.

Ohhh, you want the models COMPILED for Source?

It's my current understanding that the models have to be ported because they are so old, like the other leak-era models. So they'd have to be decompiled, then recompiled in order for them to be usable, unless you know a way to skip those steps and just magically make them work on the newer engine.

I'd like to get into modelling sometime soon, so if I could get my hands on both "COMPILED" and "MODELLING PROGRAM FRIENDLY" versions of them I'd appreciate it.

Lol, atm they are in a compile ready state. (Seems so, mostly) So its just drop the QC. file onto a compiler and there you go.

Any recompiler you can recommend?

The Source Film Maker comes with an incredible model compiler (StudioCompiler.exe)
Its been heavily optimised, most 'bounderies' and limitations has been told to fuck off. I couldn't ever imagine using any of the old ones when this thing is around.

I tried compiling them myself but they're broken; the alien's arm is stuck next to it's face and the human has a few issues as well.

I killed them.

It's a start though, especially for the alien commando. If you keep at it then you will be the first person to successfully port the alien commando to the retail engine.

Also, do you think that you could rig it to the valve biped?
