| I gave the thing a playthrough so it's time to share my thoughts on it and pretend someone actually cares what i think XDThe prime content aka Hyperborea was decent to say the least. It wasn't anything overly amazing but it wasnt a piece of shit either. It was ok. The E3 demos are ok although some bugs are still there. Terminal is the same shitty map like in 1.5 so no comments on that one(and it has a few missing textures). Depot is also the same. The Rooftops however are bad. It's virtually the same map like in 1.5 with a darker skybox, some new textures and some additional scripting. No imagining, no improvements over the orignal level design, nothing. This map was the worst in the entire mod. Odell finally learned how to walk down the stairs and that's a big plus. Alyx finally got that 2002 look. The weapons are ok although the OICW view model is bad. Stalkers don't kill ya with 2 hits so that's an improvement. And finally teh so called new model of the I-Rifle/AR2 is the exact same model like in retail but... wait for it.... IT HAS NO ARMS FUCK YEAH! So overall what we waited for these past 2 years is a decent mod but it could have been much better (deja vu much?). Hopefully the lurkers are satisfied (Yeah I know who you are ya cunts). And if they aren't: Couldn't care less. There we go folks with that I'll call it a day. trolling time nao | |

| The Borealis is nice, the rooftops suck, and their Combine Soldier model (not the elite) is pretty good. | |

| Not the wait worth. thats all i can say. Most of this could of been done in a month... And since they are a whole team of mappers, i'd say 2 weeks. Either they are just lazy or else they dont really know mapping very well... Where did all the moments go i was waiting for D:? 2 years, no release. Finally it's totally dissapointing. | |

| Finally finished it. The Borealis has some nice details, like the burst pipe and such, although there are a few missing textures in the map. Odell's model and welding sequences has some bugs, and the SPAS-12 and OICW are pure shit; you can modify the origins all you want, the models are still gonna suck. The gameplay was pretty good, usual HL2 gameplay. The sub is horrible though, and a lot more could've been done with the Borealis/Hyperborea. No Gunship fight, which was kind of lame. The stalkers only have one animation for their melee attacks, but at least their AI improved. The new models for the Combine Soldiers are well done, although I'm not a fan of the colors that were chosen. The AK-47 still needs to be optimized, and the Combine Soldier still does a melee strike when he's supposed to kick in e3_phystown. e3_under was fine, along with most of the other e3 maps. e3_seafloor still has that shitty overbrightened look, so that sucks. You know that bleeding thing from the RtB concepts that was on the Borealis? The current iteration looks nothing like it. e3_terminal was basically the same, if not worse thanks to the missing textures. By this point, they'd probably be better off using Junk's Terminal map. The Iceaxe physics model is finally fixed, so props to that I guess. Most of the fires in the Borealis couldn't be extinguished, so what's the point of having the Fire Extinguisher?
Now it's time to really tear into it.
Oh boy, rooftops. It's the same damn map, but somehow it became worse. They were able to use Beta Stalkers on the Borealis but not the Rooftops? Bullshit. The explosion from the canister was still felt while I was still inside the building. Seriously, what the fuck? If that's what you're trying to aim for, then at least have parts of the rooftop entrance be destructible. There were a few details added, but that doesn't stop the map from being boring.
The borealis still has some problems with the fires, not only that they're unextinguishable, but that they actually leak through the walls. You gotta notice this kind of stuff. The OICW still has awful textures on the world model, and you've clearly shown that there does exist a good world model, so why not use that?
Long story short, it's ok. It's not even close to being perfect, but it still has some redeemable features. Playtest the maps, optimize the models, and finally, be creative. That's pretty much it.
